Struggling with Scripture. Begins Sunday 8/2/2026 at 9:05 a.m.
Four Weeks to Deeper Bible Reading
This four-week course invites participants to explore difficult passages in Scripture. Together, we will learn that questioning, wrestling, and even disagreeing can be part of faith. Moreover, the process fosters maturity and honest curiosity.
Drawing on tradition, reason, and personal experience, participants will read the Bible with greater honesty, humility, curiosity, and hope. They will also develop tools for engaging texts with integrity and openness. This approach invites thoughtful dialogue and a mature faith.
- 8/2 – Week 1: When Scripture Makes Us Uncomfortable
- 8/9 – Week 2: When Scripture Seems to Contradict Itself
- 8/16 – Week 3: When Scripture Hurts
- 8/23 – Week 4: When Scripture Changes Us
- 8/30 – Week 5: Wrap Up
We struggle with scripture as an act of faith. Sometimes we struggle with scripture because we are wrestling with God. We may come away with more questions than answers, but the struggle itself can change us. Like Jacob*, we may walk away wounded, uncertain, and still searching, but also blessed, transformed, and more aware of God’s presence in our lives.
*Genesis 32:22-31
