Ministries

In the Episcopal Church, we use the word “ministry” to define our actions in Christian Service. Ministry is how we put God’s Love into action. While ordained persons have specific roles and responsibilities within the church, the regular acts of ministry are not reserved for the ordained. Our church defines ministers as all the baptized persons. Each member of the church is strongly encouraged to find a way to participate and express their faith in the greater community, acting out their baptized ministry.

The most common expression of ministry is seen by the actions of our Outreach committee. However, there are many who participate in many of the Worship Ministries or other groups (Men’s, Women’s, Youth) in order to nurture their faith among peers. There are also activities such as the Prayer Fellowship, the Caring Committee, the Prayer Shawl Ministry, the Membership Committee, Christian Education and other opportunities for people to get involved to learn and help care for other members of the church.

Questions to ask yourself:

  1. What do you feel that God is leading you to do in the church?
  2. What do you like to do that you would like to offer through the church?
  3. Is there something that you don’t see in our ministry offerings that we need to be doing?

We honor the gather communities spiritual gifts and talents. As a collective whole, with God’s help, we are able to accomplish far more than we can either ask or imagine!
