Children

Children are the Church

Preschool-age children use a curriculum that helps them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives. It focuses on parables, sacred stories, symbols, silence, and liturgical action.

Elementary School-aged children learn from a curriculum that provides an exploration of the Bible and our faith traditions.

So many people say that “Children are the future of the church.” We believe that children are NOT just the future of the church… We believe our children ARE the church as much as any other child of God who worships and learns at St. James. Their ideas, thoughts, expression, and engagement are important parts of their faith development. Adults and youth strive to model the right behaviors for younger children to grow, learn and thrive in their faith.

As an Episcopal Church, we subscribe to the Children’s Charter of the Episcopal Church.

Christian Formation & Education begins in early childhood and NEVER ENDS, just as our faith journey continues our whole lives.
