What are the Worship Services like?
The Episcopal Church embraces the “beauty of Holiness” in our worship. We believe God reveals God’s self to us through Holy Scripture and the sights and sounds of worship and life. Our worship service embraces this beauty through our active participation. It is a beautiful form of worship based on the ancient practices of our Christian faith.
We are not merely spectators in a worship service. Instead, we participate by actively praising God in our worship and going out into the world to love and serve others in Jesus’ name.
As with anything new, a different worship style may initially seem foreign. However, the wonderful people of Saint James will guide you. We believe that you will find the worship service a beautiful, inspiring, and powerful way to praise God in Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
What should I wear?
Come as you are! People dress in various ways on any given Sunday at St. James. Some wear more formal clothes (coats and ties for men and dresses for women), and many favor the business casual style (khaki pants, a button-down or knit shirt, etc.). Some prefer a more casual style (jeans and a tee shirt).
Whatever you wear, we think you will find the congregation welcoming. It’s not about clothing. We don’t care what you wear (provided you wear clothes) as long as you come and worship God.
Where do I park?
There are two parking lots beside the church facing Church Street, parking places along the sidewalk on Church Street, and additional parking behind the church adjacent to the General Morgan Inn.
May small children worship with their parents on Sundays?
Absolutely! Children are always welcome to accompany their parents to worship.
